About- Meet the Band Members
Old School is a fun band located in the greater Washington D.C.
area, preserving, or maybe you could say "reforming" the old
traditional Bluegrass and Country music. There have been a lot of
changes in Bluegrass and Country music through the years, but we see
a resurgence of interest in the traditional music that made this
type of music popular in it's beginnings.
The members of the band have been musicians since the early
1970's or before, playing in many different bands. In early 2007 the
band formed in Rodger's barn, and it turned into a fun mixture of
traditional Bluegrass and Country music that is entertaining to
audiences of all types and ages. Rodger may be the only Bluegrass
Keyboard player in existence, but his tasteful, tame, and talented
playing adds a feature to the band that allows us to add some great
Country songs in addition to Bluegrass.

Tom Jarboe plays mandolin, banjo and guitar,
sings lead and harmony vocals. He is a mechanical engineer and
calls Ijamsville, Maryland home. Playing folk, country and
bluegrass music since the '60s.

Woody Story brings his banjo,
Dobro and
tenor voice to the band. Woody lives high atop the summit in Mt.
Airy, Maryland. Woody operates his own company as a
manufacturer's sales representative.

Rodger Nelson is an amazingly
multi-talented person who is a very high quality sign maker.
Rodger is quite possibly the only Bluegrass Keyboard player in
existence. Rodger's Keyboard playing is an incredibly enjoyable
addition to the other acoustic instruments and gives Old School
the ability to do some great old country music in addition to
Bluegrass. Rodger lives in Olney Maryland and hosts our
practices in his barn.
